Hi team,

Welcome to Your New Wiki!

I have set you all up as managers so you have full permissions to invite and edit these pages.
Here are some useful contacts for you:-

Eyebeam - NYC based creative team. They were the ones who organised the video link up with FACT
FACT - cinema in town. The contact there is Anna Kronenburg

Riverside and Community Seven - are currently setting up a green issues group with interested tenants and residents in Kensington. Has funding we can apply for in July. Has connections with Michael Bowles who is the leader of Kengington Clean Team, also has connections with Brian Gates the community representative at Morrisons.
  • Lisa Vingoe - tel 0151 285 1373 here is an email from Lisa to me:-
Hello

I received an e-mail about your project through one of our reception staff
here at Community Seven.

The project looks very interesting. I am currently setting up a Green
Issues group with interested tenants and residents and have worked on other
environmental projects with Kensington Fields Community Association and
others. Your e-mail was directed at a bank, but I think you may also be
looking for Financial and other support from us? We do have a Community
chest fund which supports local projects. You would be too late for our
May deadline and we may not look at applications again until July, but I
would be happy to discuss it with you.

Would you like to meet up to discuss the project and ways in which we can
help?
I am sure that Michael Bowles, Leader of the Kensington Clean Team who is
based at our organisation would be very interested, as would Brian Gates
who is the Community representative of Morrison, one of our contractors.
Brian is keen for himself and his staff to get involved in community
projects like this.

There is currently a fund which will cover up to three quarters of the cost
of tree planting (they do have to be planted between 25th November and 6th
December -National Tree Week). You may like to use that for the project in
Liverpool.

Please let me know if you would like to meet. e-mail or phone me.

Best wishes,

Local Councillors - Wendy Simon tel 07773061893 and Louise Baldock - would like to get involved in any community clean-ups - here is a copy of her lastest email to me
(Hi Michelle
Louise has forwarded your e-mail to me in respect of your idea around a Clean Team Exchange as I mainly take the lead on youth issues within our ward. I would be grateful if you could clarify the involvement you would wish from us as local councillors, as obviously we would like to offer our support in your project and would certainly want to get involved in any environmental improvements or cleanup, something we do often within the Kensington and Fairfield area.
Please feel free to contact me either by e-mail or telephone, or if you think it would be useful to meet up to discuss this then let me know.

[[mailto:Jdorney@blmhs.org|Jdorney@blmhs.org]] is the headmaster of the school in New York the school is called Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School
here is a copy of his latest email

Hi Michelle,

I am very much in favor of making our providential meeting of the schools
(and the people within them) a long term relationship. Your ideas do seem
very exciting to me. I will talk to some people here at Loughlin and
figure out what is the best way to proceed. We have a three day week
through Wednesday and then a five day weekend through Monday, May 25. We
resume on Tuesday, May 26. We are also busy this week with our 12th
graders finishing classes and getting ready for graduation. I would love
to get back to you this week but I think it will more likely be next week.
In the mean time, I wanted to ask more about your school. I, along with my
classmates, just celebrated my own 40th anniversary of graduation from
high school in 1969, from a school named Brooklyn Prep, run by the Jesuit
priests, here in Brooklyn N.Y. and closed in 1972. I told some of my
classmates about our video-link and one fellow told me that he married a
woman from Liverpool and has many in-laws there. He asked me what school
it was and where it was. I never asked Martin but one of my people told me
it was St. Francis. Could you please give me a full name and exact
location of the school. Could you also tell me who runs it and any other
pertinent information about it? Thank you. I will do the same in terms of
Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School for you (I was going to say at a
later date because I'm trying to wrap this up but let me start now). We
date, as an institution, originally called St. James, back to 1851. We
have been at our current location (with our current name), 357 Clermont
Avenue, Brooklyn N.Y. 11238, since 1933 (the building was brand new in
that year). This year we had a beautiful 75th anniversary celebration as
Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School and in 2001 we had an even bigger
celebration of the 150th anniversary of the St. James/Bishop Loughlin
institution. Bishop John Loughlin, the man, was appointed as the first
Roman Catholic bishop of Brooklyn in 1853 and continued as such until his
death in1891.

Looking forward to our next trans-atlantic exchange,
Jim Dorney

Peter Cranie is a greenparty member who will be able to give us lots of help and advice about keeping the project environmental. I have sent this email:-
Hi Pete

Thanks so much for saying you’ll get involved in the project, the kids who are running it will be so appreciative of your help and knowledge. They’ve got their next meeting on 4th August in the lodge at 10am so it you could go along to that that would be amazing. I’ve also set up a wikispace for the students to keep a record of what they are doing and each of the 4 teams they have split into have been created as pages down the side. Have a read through and maybe post a message on introducing yourself if you have time.
You’ll need to create an account on wikisapces before you can join the group.
